What New Doc Does
The New Doc feature generates a new, standalone full-resolution perspective Photoshop document based on the exact camera orientation, Field of View (FOV), and aspect ratio framing established in the 360 Preview panel.
Full-Resolution Production Projection
While the preview viewport provides a responsive, interactive perspective display, activating New Doc instructs the projection engine to calculate high-fidelity rays from the full source panorama raster. The resulting perspective image opens in Photoshop as a distinct document, ready for independent retouching, compositing, or publishing.
Before Creating the Document
Because New Doc projects the exact composition configured in the preview interface, establish your creative parameters prior to triggering document creation:
Navigate View
Orbit Heading and Pitch to establish your desired viewing angle and horizon alignment.
Adjust FOV
Set Field of View between 30° and 100° to control perspective distortion and scene breadth.
Choose Framing
Select an aspect ratio preset (1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 2.35:1, or Free) matching your output format.
Inspect Guides
Toggle composition guidelines (Grid, Center Point, Crosshair, Diagonals) to verify balance.
Creating the Perspective Document
Follow this simple workflow to initiate document generation:
Verify Active Session
Ensure the source panorama is active in Photoshop and visible in the 360 Preview panel.

What Happens Next: New Doc vs Edit This View
When you trigger New Doc, Photoshop generates and opens a new perspective document computed from your preview framing. It is critical to understand the architectural difference between New Doc and Edit This View:
New Doc
Creates a standalone perspective Photoshop document from the current 360 Preview composition.
- Generates an independent Photoshop canvas.
- Does not modify or write back to the parent panorama.
- Ideal for perspective stills, social media crops, prints, or external retouching.
Edit This View
Creates a managed perspective editing session linked to the active panorama.
- Generates a managed perspective layer session.
- Enables Apply View Edits to project changes back into the equirectangular panorama.
- Preserves session metadata, Go to View capability, and seamless inverse remapping.
Full-Resolution Generation
During live interaction in the 360 Preview panel, graphics rendering is optimized for responsive frame rates, fluid camera orbiting, and instantaneous guideline feedback.
When you invoke New Doc, PanoView Editor initiates the production-grade projection pipeline. It reads from the full-resolution equirectangular raster of your open Photoshop document, ensuring maximum image sharpness, tonal accuracy, and clean rectilinear projection across the generated document.
Licensing & Access Gating
License-Gated Feature
The New Doc perspective export action is a production mutating feature protected by PanoView Editor license verification. While interactive 360 previewing and navigation remain accessible, generating full-resolution perspective documents requires an active license.
