Edit This View
Learn how Edit This View extracts your currently framed 360° perspective into a dedicated rectilinear Photoshop document, and how to work safely on the designated retouching layer.
Initiating an Edit
When you frame an area in the 360° viewport and click Edit This View, PanoView Editor transforms curved spherical pixels into a flat perspective document:
Frame Your Target Subject
Navigate the viewport by orbiting to your subject. Adjust FOV so the defect, tripod, or object is centered with enough surrounding pixels to blend adjustments seamlessly.
Click Edit This View
Click the primary action button located directly below the camera sliders. PanoView Editor freezes the viewpoint coordinates and computes an optimal perspective projection.
Photoshop Activates the Perspective Document
Photoshop automatically brings the newly generated perspective PSB document forward. You are now ready to edit using standard retouching tools.

PSB Document & Layer Structure
The opened perspective document uses a carefully configured two-layer structure:
Contains the original, unretouched perspective pixels extracted from the panorama.
- Locked by default to prevent accidental edits or layer shifts.
- Serves as the baseline for detecting changes during Apply View Edits.
- Rule: Never paint on, unlock, or delete this layer.
The active canvas layer designated for your creative retouching work.
- Positioned directly above the reference layer.
- Hosts clone stamping, patches, paint strokes, or adjustments.
- Rule: Add all retouching work on this layer or layers stacked above it.

Layer Safety Guidelines
Because PanoView Editor calculates changes through differential pixel analysis, adhering to these layer guidelines guarantees clean results:
• Do not flatten the document: Merging layers destroys the reference layer, making differential change detection impossible.
• Do not crop or resize the canvas: The dimensions and aspect ratio of the perspective document are precisely matched to the camera FOV.
• Do not merge into Background/Reference: Keep the reference layer completely clean and untouched.
Editing with Photoshop Tools
Because the edit document is a normal Photoshop file, you have access to the full arsenal of native Photoshop retouching tools:
Use Spot Healing, Clone Stamp, or Patch Tool to eliminate tripods, reflections, wires, and lens flare spots.
Native Photoshop Generative Fill and Content-Aware Fill function seamlessly without curved perspective distortion.
Paint architectural lines, balance skies, blend gradients, and adjust localized lighting using standard brushes.

Panorama & Session State
While you are working inside the perspective document, PanoView Editor maintains session state across your workspace:
Ready to Commit Changes?
When your retouching is complete, do not flatten or save the document as a new file. Simply click Apply View Edits in the PanoView Editor panel.
