Before Troubleshooting Apply

When you execute Apply View Edits, PanoView Editor performs mathematical inverse spherical reprojection. It computes the precise difference between your creative layers and the baseline perspective reference, then reprojects those modified pixels back into the equirectangular panorama.

Distinguishing Blocking vs Advisory Conditions
Blocking Conditions:Missing layers, altered reference pixels, closed panorama documents, or expired entitlements halt execution until corrected.
Advisory Conditions:Resource notices like Memory Preflight provide warning metrics but allow you to continue processing immediately.

02

Apply Button / Action Is Unavailable

If the Apply View Edits button appears dimmed or inactive, verify the following three document preconditions:

Active Document Focus

Ensure the edit document window is the currently active tab in Photoshop. If Photoshop is focused on an unrelated file, Apply View Edits remains inactive.

Photoshop Modal State

Photoshop disables external plugin commands while a modal tool is active, such as an open color picker, active text cursor, or crop boundary. Press Enter or Escape to exit the modal tool.

Entitlement Validation

If your license requires a periodic check or the trial has expired, the panel displays an access validation prompt before proceeding with commit actions.

03

Reference Integrity Problems

The Background/Reference layer is the mathematical baseline of the edit document. Any modification to this layer causes an integrity alert:

Edit Reference Needs Attention

If this layer was unlocked and painted on, moved, or deleted, PanoView Editor cannot calculate pixel differences accurately. Differential blending compares your creative layer against this reference layer to isolate only modified pixels.

Remediation:

1. Undo recent actions using Photoshop's History panel until the reference layer is restored to its original state.

2. Keep the reference layer locked at the very bottom of the edit document layer stack.

3. Direct all retouching exclusively onto the 360 Edit layer or group.

04

Editable View Problems

Issues related to the structure or naming of your creative layer stack:

Editable View Missing

Occurs if the layer named 360 Edit was renamed or deleted. To resolve, return to an intact earlier version of the document if available, or generate a fresh perspective edit view from the panorama rather than attempting to recreate internal session links manually.

Editable View Was Rasterized

Occurs if the document was flattened into a single background canvas. Differential reprojection requires separation between the reference and the edits. Return to an earlier intact version of the edit document before it was flattened, or create a new edit view from the panorama.

Multiple Editable Sources Found

Occurs if more than one layer or group carries the naming signature or identifier expected for editable content. Ensure the document contains only one unambiguous editable source layer or group associated with the session, or export your artwork and create a fresh edit view.

05

Panorama Problems

Issues related to the master equirectangular canvas:

Panorama Unavailable or Closed

If the source panorama file was closed in Photoshop, reprojection cannot commit changes. Reopen the panorama file; PanoView Editor automatically re-links the session ID.

Panorama Dimensions Changed

If the panorama canvas was cropped or scaled after view extraction, reprojection halts to prevent geometric distortion. Revert canvas size adjustments to match the original panorama dimensions, or generate a fresh perspective view from the current panorama geometry.

06

Bit Depth & Document Compatibility

PanoView Editor operates natively in RGB color mode with 8-bit or 16-bit precision:

32-Bit Float Workflow Notice

Photoshop 32-bit floating-point mode is unsupported for production reprojection workflows due to Photoshop host filter limitations in HDR color spaces. If your source file is in 32-bit HDR, convert the document to 16 Bits/Channel (Image > Mode > 16 Bits/Channel) before extracting views or applying edits.

07

Memory Preflight Appears

When inverse reprojection estimates that working memory usage will exceed approximately 1.5 GiB, the Memory Preflight dialog appears:

Advisory Resource Notice (Not a Failure)

This is an advisory dialog designed to protect system responsiveness when handling large panoramas. It provides two clear choices:

  • Cancel: Stops the apply operation cleanly so you can close background files, save your document, or free system memory.
  • Continue: Proceeds with full-resolution transformation without any downscaling or precision loss.
08

Access Verification Appears

If the panel displays an access validation alert prior to committing edits, your trial or license requires a quick refresh:

Connect your workstation to the Internet and click Refresh Access in the Licensing & Access view. Once entitlement is verified, the Apply View Edits command unlocks immediately.

09

Safe Recovery Sequence

Follow this standardized non-destructive sequence whenever troubleshooting an Apply roadblock:

1
Save Current Work: Save the edit document (File > Save) to ensure all brushwork is preserved on disk.
2
Confirm Source Panorama Is Open: Switch to the panorama document tab to verify it is open and active.
3
Validate Layer Hierarchy: Ensure the bottom layer is Background/Reference (locked) and the upper layer is 360 Edit.
4
Execute Apply View Edits: Return to the edit document tab and click Apply View Edits.
10

After Successful Apply

Once reprojection completes, Photoshop switches focus back to your master panorama document:

Your modifications appear as a new dedicated layer or merged projection on the panorama canvas.

Open the 360 Preview panel to inspect the reprojected result and spherical alignment interactively.

You can keep the edit document open for additional retouching or close it safely; its parameters remain saved in the session list.
