Preview Does Not Show Expected Panorama

The 360 Preview panel automatically synchronizes with the active Photoshop document tab. When the preview appears blank or displays an unexpected image, check the following:

Active Document Tab Focus

Photoshop may have focused on an extracted edit document, a non-panoramic asset, or a secondary document tab. Click directly on the tab of your main equirectangular panorama file.

Panorama Refresh

If you made large canvas modifications or applied filters in Photoshop while the preview was backgrounded, click the Refresh icon in the viewport to re-synchronize the preview with the active document.

03

Heading, Pitch & FOV Issues

Spherical camera coordinates operate within verified mathematical ranges:

Heading (Yaw)

Controls horizontal viewing orientation around the panorama, allowing continuous 360° rotation across the seam.

Pitch (Tilt)

Controls vertical viewing direction, adjusting the angle between upward and downward perspectives.

Field of View (FOV)

Horizontal perspective viewing angle ranging from 30° to 100°. Defaults to 75° for natural perspective framing.

04

Aspect Ratio & Framing Issues

The 360 Preview panel includes seven verified aspect ratio presets for composing and framing perspectives:

1:14:33:416:99:162.35:1Free

Selecting an aspect ratio preset confines the preview framing overlay to that proportion. Choosing Free allows the framing box to adapt dynamically to the panel container dimensions.

05

Guidelines & Overlay Issues

Four verified composition overlay options assist with alignment and rule-of-thirds composition:

Gridlines

Rule-of-thirds grid

Center Point

Center anchor dot

Crosshair

Horizontal & vertical axes

Diagonals

Corner-to-corner diagonals

Overlays are non-destructive visual guides rendered solely within the preview canvas. They never print or export onto your Photoshop layers.

06

New Doc Is Unavailable

The New Doc button exports the current framed perspective view directly into a brand-new standalone Photoshop document:

Why New Doc May Be Dimmed
  • •Panorama Tab Not Selected: New Doc requires an active equirectangular source document to sample perspective rays.
  • •Photoshop Modal Operation: A crop, text edit, or dialog is modal. Press Enter or Escape in Photoshop.
  • •Entitlement Check: New Doc is a production extraction feature requiring an active trial or lifetime key.
07

Preview Quality vs Production Quality

Understanding the architectural separation between the interactive preview and production processing:

Interactive Optimization Architecture

The interactive preview viewport is engineered for responsive interactive preview and composition framing. It utilizes an optimized representation designed for responsive viewing.

This interactive display optimization does not represent or alter the quality of your source panorama. When you trigger Edit This View, Apply View Edits, or New Doc, PanoView Editor switches to its full-resolution, high-precision mathematical pipeline, preserving every pixel without downscaling.

08

Resetting the Preview State

If camera angles become disorienting or you wish to return to the neutral horizon:

Reset Command Coordinates

Clicking Reset in the camera controls restores verified baseline camera values:

  • Heading: 0° (Center front)
  • Pitch: 0° (Level horizon)
  • FOV: 75° (Natural human perspective)
